I'd be weary about forfeiting a game in such scenarios. Unless explicitly instructed to do so I'm hoping a parent or some adult steps up. This shouldn't happen in a varsity game as pretty much all schools I see and get have at least 2 assistants.

Either way, I'm letting the new guy know his coach used up all the good will and he should only focus on coaching.
