Blood

A player gets a bloody nose and is directed to leave the game.

Do you allow him to reenter with tissue hanging out of his nostrils that is there to stop the bleeding, or do you make him wait until he can play without the tissue shoved up his nostrils??

I would make the player wait. The tissues could easily come out, plus they restrict one of the two breathing passageways, and that doesn't seem a safe corrective measure to me. Not to mention it's unsightly.

That's not a book answer by any means. It would be a judgment on my part to err on the side of caution.

I've seen this allowed numerous times mainly in college.. Of course if the player and coach think the player is good to go... Well.. I might allow it in high school.. Probably not anywhere lower than that. Here's another thing to remember- what if the tissues fall out and spill blood on the court. We'd have to stop play to get it cleaned and that player would be subbed out. Certain cases will lead to my judgement on this.

A Bloody Mess ...

If I see blood on the tissue. Stay on the bench. If I don't see blood on the tissue. Play in the game.

Treat the tissue like a bloodied, or not bloodied, uniform, or equipment.

For the player to remain in the game, the tissue must match the main uniform color, unless the main color is red and the team is matching it by having the tissue totally soaked in the player's (or someone else's) blood.

It's just a bandage for the inside of the nose, so I'd handle it the way Billy lays out here.
