Don't schools provide water for you guys?? I always make sure that we have a cooler and about 8-10 bottles of water waiting in the Ref's changing room. Have just made it a part of getting things ready for a home game.

Big variety of "hosting" in the high schools that we serve. Some provide bottled water, cookies, and a personal escort that walk you to and from the court and help you with anything you need. Others hand you a key to the laundry room (no shower facility and not even a bottle of water) and let you fend for yourself.

A Samsonite rolling "carry-on" bag does the trick. Plenty of pockets and a lot of room. A guy at camp recommended it and now I can't go without it.

I have two bags, one main bag and a backup bag.

In the main bag, I put:
1 pr pants
1 pr shoes
2 shirts (micro-mesh and reg.)
1 pr socks...Thorlo uniform support socks
1 compression shorts (intera/coolmax/dri-fit)
1 undershirt (intera/coolmax/dri-fit...NEVER cotton)
1 Jacket
2-3 whistles...one on a noose, two on smitties
ball needle and miniature pump
1 pr extra laces
1 set of books: rules, case, off. manual, simplified, and handbook
association roster
game schedule
dry-erase pregame board
towel
bottle of liquid shower soap
deodorant
toothbursh/paste & mouthwash
Advil & Peptobismol tablets (never needed them yet)
small sewing kit
chapstick
gatorade + granola bars

In the backup bag:
1 each:
shirt
pants
shoes
socks
compression shorts
undershirt (coolmax/drifit/intera)
whistle/smitty

I leave this bag in the trunk of the car all season in case I tear or forget anything essential.

I get a lot of abuse from the rest of the unit for having the best stocked bag in the area. It has most of the things already mentioned with a few additions:

Black felt tip marker (it and a piece of tape can make a very quick patch for pants or socks)

Gum (I don't need it but one of my partners does and without it he can't officiate for sh-- so I always have extra)

Change (for those cheap schools that won't give you water or soda but have machines in the locker room)

Ace bandage

Rolaids

At least a dozen good comebacks for each coach

Exclamation Man, I must travel light compared to you guys

For really close games, I come dressed. For anything futher than about 50 miles, I bring my ref clothes in a bag. I always have the latest rule books (the one with all the dog edged pages), machanics, extra whistles and lanyards, the roster of officials with my schedulers name highlighted, and sometimes a map from the Internet. I bring a towel. But that's about it.

Oh yeah. I always have spare money in my bag in case I lose my wallet. Enough for food and gas.

That's easy. I always know the score before the game begins

zero to zero.

I am suprised no one asked about how I am dressed. Stuffed or lightly seasoned.
