shot clock question
or if anyone can point me to a thread on this.
So I know now that horn to end a quarter will cancel any shot if after, even if the timer had incorrectly started the clock too soon. So even if a ref had definite knowledge a shot would have counted had the clock started correctly if the horn blows then it has to be waived off if the shot is not released. For a shot clock though is it the same? So on a play when the shot clock should have been restarted or more time, say a player is about to shoot when it goes off and then releases after. I'm assuming you count the basket in this situation. |
Kill the play
You treat the shot clock just like the game clock. If the ball is still in hand when the horn sounds, it's a violation. Officials must be cognizant of shot clock resets for this exact reason.

so if this situation did happen, what would you do?
give the ball back to the team whose shot should have counted? |
