News about the girls team at my old HS
Here's some info about the HS I attended about 100 years ago. Congrats to these girls. The story is from the website of the City of Chicago Heights, where the HS is located.
"Bloom girls’ basketball team finished a phenomenal week with a couple of big wins. Bloom’s Lady Blazing Trojans basketball team took on the number one ranked team in the state, Montini Catholic, at Whitney Young High School on Saturday, December 13th. The team came back from a 12 point deficit to win the game in overtime with a score of 80-75. Bloom’s Kat Strong led all scorers with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Danielle King had a strong game adding 23 points, 6 assists and 6 steals, and Annika Johnson rounded out the effort contributing 13 points and 15 rebounds in the big victory. The team followed that game with a win over Rich South on Tuesday, pushing its record to 9-2 on the season. Bloom’s Danielle King recently signed a national letter of intent for a full scholarship to continue her basketball career at Marquette University. Teammate Katherine Strong also signed a national letter of intent for a full scholarship to continue her basketball career at Virginia Commonwealth University." |
Mark - sounds like "your" team is pretty darn good. Beating the #1 ranked team in the state is quite an accomplishment.
BTW - when you went there, did they even have a girls' team? If so, did they wear bloomers during games? HA HA - get it? The name of the school is "Bloom". |
wow, she got 15 rebounds!?!
hope she chooses a good college major area of study and eventually becomes a ref in her spare time. |
When I attended this school, we had a cheer we yelled at home games when someone from the other team was going to shoot a FT. It went like this:
See that basket See that ball C'mon stupid Hit the wall |
