Jump Ball Restrictions
This is in reference to Part II testing.
The question: All jump-ball restrictions end when the tapped ball touches the floor, a non-jumper, a basket or a backboard. (True or False) The restrictions in 6-3-7 end when the above happens but other restrictions end earlier. My logic tells me this question is false but I have old tests that were correctly answered with true. Can anyone help me make sense of this? |
False!
If your toss touches the backboard or a basket without touching a jumper first, your toss stunk. Blow the whistle, gather your things, and exit the gym :D |

6-3-8: The jump ball and the restrictions in 6-3-7 end when the touched ball contacts one of the eight nonjumpers, an official, the floor, a basket or backboard. |
It is indeed true. After that point, there are no more restrictions in effect. Some may end earlier, but those still in effect all end at that time.

So are you telling me that the NFHS is saying, "Some restrictions may end earlier but when the tapped ball touches the floor, a non-jumper, a basket or backboard, they "ALL" end? |
Just sayin'
BillyMac and Camron are correct. In this case, when the NFHS says "ALL", they mean all.

You left out official of the OP. I don't know if this was an oversight or actually left out of the question to fool you.

I'm fairly sure it was left out in the original question. I remember it gave me pause when I noticed it was not there. |

Back in the old days when I played, we actually had a jump ball on all held ball situations, and there was a jump circle at each free throw line for held balls in that area. From there, a tipped ball could easily hit the rim or backboard. |
