Wrong Foul Assigned

During 1st quarter, a foul is reported on team A #24. This foul is assigned to the wrong player (should have been #42). At half the crew discusses this and has definite knowledge that the wrong number was given this foul. Can this be fixed at this point?

Yes.

NFHS Rules Book 2-11-11 . . . A bookkeeping mistake may be corrected at any time until the referee approves the final score.

Yes. This is not a correctable error (2-10). It does not have a time limit.

Peace

Yes, and I've done it maybe 2-3 times in my career.

Thanks .. I thought that was the case and it was not a "correctable error".

What if the guy with the "wrongly attributed" foul gets 5 more and fouls out? If it's detected after that, can he return?

Also, what if the other player (the one the foul should have gone to) gets a total of 5 without that one. When you discover the error do you remove him from the game?

I'm pretty sure of the answers but I thought I'd just throw these two scenarios out there.

You mean the wrongly assigned player has 5 fouls and is sitting. You make the change and now the disqualified player only has 4 fouls right?
