2014-15 GHSA Officials Training Video

A 20 minute film from the Georgia High School Association worth viewing IMO. Some real good video, narration, and discussion points.

Let's get the season started!

Not sure it's part of this video, but at our last association meeting we used video from the GHSA in regards to interacting with fans and others affiliated with a school before games. It makes it look like favoritism could be applied.

I haven't looked at this video, so it may not even be there.

Not Closely Guarded Signal ...

There was mention in the video about the "not closely guarded" signal now being an official NFHS signal.

As an IAABO member I don't have access to a NFHS mechanics manual. Is this true? Is the "not closely guarded" signal now an official NFHS signal?

We (IAABO) experimented with such a signal a few years ago, but then decided that not visibly counting was good enough for us and gave the coaches, players, and fans enough information, so we don't use the signal anymore.

Yep. #12 on the list in the Rule Book.

Yes. In the NFHS Rules Book, it's signal #12.

My records indicate the rule change came out in 2007/2008.
