3 man free throw administration
 

Worked a middle school game 3 man last night for practice. I have very limited experience with 3 man, and neither of my partners did either. Free throw admin was very shaky. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to be looking at, or what my partners were supposed to be looking at. I could use some guidance.

L - looking across the lane at realease, and at low block rebound action?

C - looking for thrower violation, or any above key player violations, and rebound action. Are any of the lane spaces my responsibility at release? Do I signal clock, or just leave that for T?

T - Overall action? Checking to see if shot hits rim? Am I responsible for any particular lane spaces here?

The answer is partly going to depend on the mechanics in your area, but:

L -- lowest space closest to him, and all opposite (just like L in two person).
C -- FT shooter and "top two" opposite (just like T in two person)
T -- everyone else

C is responsible for chopping the time and the ball not hitting the rim (again, just like T in two person). Standard rebounding responsibilities.

Its definetely worth buying a mechanics book and getting your nose in it constantly. You can also access it online at nfhs if you are a member of fertain organizations. I have also found several nfhs PowerPoints online that are helpful as well. If you want to advance to three man its important to know both the rules and mechanics bacckwards and forwards.

Just forwards. If you know them backwards you might do them backwards. :rolleyes:
