NBE Trailblazers show team scrimmage on TV

The Trailblazers held a team scrimmage tonight at the Moda Center, their official venue. About 80% of the seats were filled, mostly because the admission price was $zero. The teams were balanced with veterans, rookies and "camp walk-ons". They played eight minute quarters with a pretty short halftime break.

The game was shown on a local Comcast sports station which is how I watched it, mostly during breaks in the Sunday night NFL game. They didn't mention who the three officials were so I don't know if they were actual NBE refs. I'm guessing they probably were. They called the fouls pretty tight but the violations were even fewer than in an "official" game, if possible.

Anyway, there were lots of dunks and a few blocks. Most of the blocks resulted in the blocker teasing the blockee. They all just laughed about it. It was just a scrimmage, afterall.

It was a lot of fun to watch and the black jersey team beat the white jersey team 64-43. The final play of the game was a between the legs reverse dunk. You don't see many of those in a middle school game.

Hey Mark Padgett? Will you be officiating any croquet scrimmages before the regular croquet season begins? After the scrimmage, do they invite you to partake of the watercress sandwiches, mimosas, and Earl Grey tea, at the team buffet?

I saw the T-Wolves scrimmage, and they definitely were NOT NBA refs working.

They probably were, but years ago when the team was still the Jailblazers, the officials at their scrimmages were cops.

Or corrections officers.
