Tipped ball - double dribble?
I should probably know this, but had this situation yesterday and wanted opinions.
Ballhandler goes into air to make a pass. Ball tipped out of his hands. Ballhandler catches the ball while in the air and returns to the floor. What do you have? |

The OP makes no mention of a dribble, either before or after the aborted pass. |
I believe the real question is "has player control ended due to the tip?" I think the answer is "yes."

The topic of the thread, "Tipped ball - double dribble?" seemed to imply the question Can the offensive player dribble after the tip? As described, I'd say yes.

In the midst of the opposition's fans, bench personnel, and possibly the coach yelling "travelling"; the calm ref stands there observedly and does not interrupt the play.
