Whistles

So I wore out both of my CMG fox 40s and was looking into getting some more. Does anyone have a way to get them for less than $7.00 including shipping? Also, what are people's opinions on the whistles that have a way to keep track of the possession arrow? I have thought about one of those but am not sure. Thanks.

I keep track of the AP arrow in my head.

Just feel it is something an official needs to be able to do.

Order them when you order something else to save shipping.

You often get one free at camps.

Do NOT get the ones with the possession arrow (unless, perhaps, you are doing a steady stream of park district ball)

Perhaps switch to the Fox 40 Classic? I know they last quite a bit longer than the CMG which I used to use.

I think the possession arrow whistle is a good idea. I think it would help you remembering the arrow in your head as well because it would get you thinking about when to switch it, etc.

I missed that these were CMGs. I know that some who have them have a "replacement" that they use for the cushion. What it is, I don't know.

I use the CMG whistles myself.

I get about 40-50 games out of one before the cushion wears out to the point of annoyance...

$7.00 / 50 games = $0.14 per game. Hardly worth worrying about from a cost standpoint. Just order/buy 3-4 of them next time you buy something else, and you'll be set for awhile.

I use an Eclipse. Used the same whistle all season this year and then cracked out a brand new one for my final game.

Have always used the Fox 40 classic as well and they seem to last a good bit longer than the CMG ones. You might try local sporting good stores as well (Dick's, Academy, etc.) or smaller mom/pop places that may also do things like team uniforms for local baseball/basketball. I've been able to find the Fox 40 at both locations with no problems when/if needed.

Haven't used the possession arrow whistles, but I usually carry a spare during games that I switch between pockets to keep track.

Tobacco pipe tip covers. Like a wide rubber band. I tried them when the CMG changed to the fat thing it is now instead of how it was when they first came out. Used to use them and ran out. Never really missed them until I read this. Think I'll try to pick some up if I see them.
