Here's the play...

The close up in the last few seconds confirms that he missed it.
Wasn't a positioning issue though. He was in great position for this.

Just My Three Cents ...

1) I developed a bad habit this year of not putting up my hand (stop clock signal) before a backcourt violation. I'm glad to see that others have the same problem (although the stop clock hand is probably not needed in NCAA mechanics).

2) I bet the official called it based on the bounced ball seemly hitting the division line (close), and not based on the player stepping on the division line (not close at all).

3) I wonder if the call, or noncall, would have been easier to make if there had been a "real" division line rather than a "ghost" line through a gigantic Final Four logo?

Close, but not BC violation. Not gonna fault the official for this one.

Not a BC violation. I see why it was called, but it should not have been called.

Peace

Would you fault him if the action occurred along the end line and the player was called for an OOB violation just prior to scoring what would be the winning basket?

Just curious about your mindset and standard for being critical or not of an incorrect whistle for a violation.

Respectfully, of course.

I can't speak for NCAAM but in NCAAW we use the stop clock mechanic for all violations other than OOB.

I thought the same. Factor in the glare on the court, which may appear differently when someone is standing on it, and I can understand what happened.
