Did he travel before going around his defender for a dunk?

Looks like the NBA.
Catch, step with the left, hop with both feet, then jab step with the right, then dribble. The defender has to be so confused as to which is the pivot that he can't possibly be expected to play defense. No wonder the offensive player blows by him for a dunk.

Travel. Player gathers the ball with left foot on the floor, establishing the left as pivot. He then lifts the pivot foot and puts it back down before starting a dribble.

This was a travel : the player gathered the ball with left foot on floor, jumped off of this foot and landed on 2 feet. At this point he is not allowed to pivot. and he pivoted which is a violation

This play happens all the time on catches on the perimeter but almost never seen it called in an NCAA game.

Players in college are taught to catch ball off of jump stop which is usually followed by illegal pivot. Do they gain advantage. ??

I cannot see the ball. Not sure that is a travel without seeing the ball. He touches the ball, but does he have control of the ball. That is the question.

Peace

I do . . . Also a travel. That we never get to because the passer travels first, ewll before they become the passer.
