Somewhat OT

I watched a Law & Order - CI rerun today that was filmed in 2004. It was about a HS basketball player. It showed a team practice and at least seven of the players were wearing "illegal" numbers. Also, in one scene some of the detectives were watching a video of a game and even though you couldn't see the video very well, one of the detectives referred to a player on the other team as "number 27", so I guess all the HS teams in New York City wear "illegal" numbers.

You'd think that with all the money they spend on making these shows they'd at least hire a consultant to get the numbers right before they had the jerseys made.

Heck - I'd do it for just a date with Mariska Hargatay from L&O-SVU. :)

I'm available. I require my own trailer, provided with a bowl of M&Ms from which all the brown candies has been removed.

Did you know that she's the daughter of actress Jayne Mansfield?

I've noticed that TV shows, commercials, and such seem to use illegal numbers to the point I wonder if it's on purpose. If they avoid numbers used by famous or well-known individuals, it's easier to stand behind their "any resemblances to actual people is purely coincidental" disclaimer.

That's probably correct. If the Special Victims Unit was investigating a young, short, white, basketball player wearing the number six, I would immediately think, "Oh my God. Jayne Mansfield's daughter thinks that Bill Russell is a sexual pervert preying on victims in Manhattan. Why did he leave Boston?".

Yes, and she was in the car during the accident that killed her mother. She was 3 1/2 at the time.

We have a gal who works here at the assisted living center, that is now my home, who looks very much like Mariska. In fact, that's this gal's nickname.
