Video request: Mercer basket with 1:07 left in 2nd half (Video)
He was fouled, but the BI rule still applies.

Yea, I thought the same. Unless he thought he was trying to dunk it.

(aka, the rule that allows players to dunk)
NCAAM 9-17-2d A player may have a hand legally in contact with the ball, when this contact continues after the ball enters the cylinder or when, during such action, the player touches or grabs the basket. |

Actual game speed, I'm not wiping that off.
|
While it actually was BI, I can't see that being called. Just too close to be certain at full speed.
|
I gotta say that I thought it was basket interference when I was watching it live and didn't think it was that close. If the defense had made a similar play then I think the slot or trail would've called something there. And I was cheering for a Mercer win.

not even close to BI. player protecting himself after getting hammered

Please compare & contrast the OP play with the back-to-back offensive BI calls in the K State/Kentucky game. (2nd half)
|
I also thought BI in real time but had to go back and double check. Not sure if I actually would have called it in the game but it sure looked like it.

On the first BI in the KSU/UK game (called against KSU) the overhead view clearly showed the ball had not cleared the cylinder when it was touched. The 2nd BI (called against UK) did not have as definitive of a camera angle as the first but appeared correct too. |
