I would assume this is an avocation for all the members of your association, not anyone's vocation. Actually fighting over assignments is ridiculous. Sounds more like alcohol fueled dimwits rather than competitive guys.

Luckily it's just a few soreheads, guys that think that the deserve a better schedule than the next guy, and there was more of this type of behavior with our past assignment commissioner. Our present assignment commissioner is more transparent in his assignment procedures, and there is more oversight of his assignments by our executive committee.

People get riled up over this stuff. A bunch of alphas fighting over top dog status, even if there's no serious financial differences. Happens all the time.
