another volition question- fumble

1. player A while running down the court catches a pass and dribbles to the basket. He loses the ball in a high(legal) dribble and his momentum carries him off the court.
2. Same but this one he dribbles then tries to make a pass or has two hands on the ball but fumbles it away.

Question. In both cases the player goes out of bounds because of momentum. It is legal for the player to retrieve the ball inbounds, correct?

Can the player once inbounds start anew his dribble? I'm assuming in the first he can dribble but in the second he can't.

recover, yes. dribble, maybe...it depends on who they recover the ball catch or continuation of the dribble..

I was always taught you can fumble-dribble-fumble, but you can't dribble-fumble-dribble.

Agreed. And I think in play 2 the dribble had already ended, so it will alwyas be illegal to dribble.

In 1, if the player *continues* the dribble, legal. If he recovers the ball and dribbles *again*, it's illegal.
