Interesting ?? Article
Sorry I cannot post the link here, but late last week Sam Amick of USA Today wrote a piece entitled: NBA Vows Transparency Amid Scrutiny of Refs which details somewhat new Commish Silvers plans to "open dialog about officiating that he hopes will bridge the gap between fact and fiction"
Of course, Mark Cuban is quoted as being highly pleased ![]() |

The problem with the NBA...and for that matter all pro leagues...is that fact is irrelevant. The general public percieves that the stars (Lebron, Wade, Durrant, Kobe, etc.) get A LOT of consideration when it comes to fouls and violations and that there is a certain level of "manipulation" when it comes to the play-offs.
I think it is safe to say that most here think that his horse#*@t, but perception is more important than fact. I also think most here will acknowledge that a "star system" will always exist at the pro level because people do not pay thousands of dollars a seat to sit on the floor at an NBA game to see Lebron foul out in the 3rd quarter. Even if nothing really changes, having a public discussion and letting people think you are looking into their "complaints" can only help. |
