Anyone have video of RARE PC? (Verticality)
In another post we were discussing verticality. Has anyone ever seen video of a vertical airborne defender getting plowed over? And better yet, an official calling a charge. By the letter of the law that is his space, from the floor to the ceiling.
I know a lot of us like a no call in a situation where a defender jumps straight up and the offense jumps into them to draw a foul. Some on this forum said they have called a PC, so there must be video evidence somewhere. Pfan |

Please forgive my ignorance on the NBE rules, but what's the ruling with the RA? Is this ignored on this play, or does the RA have a totally different ruling as compared to the NCAA?
(I guess on second look, you could say that LBJ extended his knee therefore eliminating the RA.) |

I like the no-call here.

I can see how some would want a foul. If the rebound had come off to the same side of the basket as the shooter the contact would've left him in a more advantageous position. Of course, you're not going to know that until you see which way the ball bounces.

I can tell you I'm not no-calling this and I'm not calling it a block... Nor am I going with travel. If I'm the L on this type of play it's going the other way too. This was a good call on a very big stage with a very big star. Steely of nerve. Does anyone have any links to the post-game comments? Clearly Pat wasn't impressed, not that it matters.
I just wonder if our little bodies (as compared to Red 6 ) at the high school level can create this much of an impact in the air. Tough to get to the to-and-through threshold. One could argue that it wasn't met in this play either. That might be why it gets no-called a lot. Just my little big bang theory. |

As seen in the other thread, contact with a vertical defender is very tempting to call a block. I just saw a similar play in tonight's CAA championship game between Delaware and William and Mary. I couldn't find the game on ESPN3, but the play is at 0:51 in the second half.
