Final Stats for the 2013/14 Season

Total of 80 games. All High School on 94' floors with a couple being on the 84' floor. I did not track mileage in the 11 JH games that I worked.

Distance Run
Total: 131.41
Average: 2.09
Girls: 2.13
Boys: 2.03

The distance was calculated with a regular pedometer set to a 30" step.

Edit: Did not track mileage in 3 JV games and 3 scrimmages in addition to the 11 JH games. Total of 63 games with mileage tracked.

Locker room, to locker room, I've seen averages closer to three miles for high school varsity two person games. We switch on all fouls, even long switches, and we don't "bump" timeouts, but that can't account for the difference.

We do have some long walks. We have several schools where we meet across the table at the halftime buzzer, wait for the coaches to clear, go get our jackets, switch the arrow, and take a long walk, including walking down a flight of stairs, back to the locker room, where it seems we get a three minute warning as soon as we pack up our jackets. Two one way trips, and one two way trip. But that only happens a half dozen times each season.

I hope that it was black. Did you wear it on your belt?

Texref Sat Feb 22, 2014 02:11pm

It was black with a blue button. :0 it is locker room to locker room. Mostly 3 person games.

80 games and 131 miles = average 2.09? Must be the new math.

He did say that 11 of the games didn't have mileage data....so it would be 69 games for 131 miles. Still not 2.09, however.

Let me whip out my slide ruler. 131/80 = 1.6 miles. 131/69 = 1.9 miles.

I just copied and pasted from excel. I will double check number of games with mileage. D'oh :).

That's when, with real good teams, the game is so action-filled that it can't be done without six eyes on the ball at all times. :D
