Mandatory OMG Travel No Call

Seems there's at least one per game. Arizona/Arizona St. 2:28 in OT.

Raymond Sat Feb 15, 2014 12:30am

I watched a high school game tonight, and they missed at least 3 obvious travels.

How does it feel to piss into the wind? :D

But people probably complained about it there.

They complain when players *don't* travel, too. I give them the same consideration.

Translation: I see that you're right and it was an obvious travel, but that just doesn't get called on this play in D1 on a guy taking the ball to the basket.

I understand that is the way it is now, but what I don't understand is why?

Unlike the blarge thing (it happens once in a blue moon and I can handle it any way I want with no problem) this is an increasing problem because the best high school players imitate what they see on tv and I still call this a travel because nobody has told me not to call it.

Tsk tsk APG.

Some of you may be able to browse to the play here: ESPN3 -- Arizona vs. Arizona State

But NCAA officials obviously don't.

He was only partially responsible for one.

He made up for it by calling 2 later on against the team that was winning by 40. :D

No, actually they didn't. 2 of them were committed by the visiting team and not a peep was heard.

HS players imitate it b/c they are not getting called for it either.

Or maybe, they learn the move in HS, nobody calls it, and they continue doing it in college.

Raymond Sat Feb 15, 2014 01:40am

Just saw play, I've seen worse travels missed, including the ones in the HS game I watched tonight.

Too true: "He's been using that move all year!"

We can debate which is worse all day, but this is one that's just too easy to call, if one had any inclination to do so. Short guy picks up the dribble with his back to the basket at the top of the key, then winds up finger rolling it in. Physics demands a whistle at some point.
