However, my question is seeing the crowd, cheerleaders, and players storm the court, obviously the game is not over. Should a technical foul be assessed to the home team in this situation? |
From reading on here common sense says do not ruin a moment with that with a T. Have site management clear the court while you get ready for OT.
|
Possibly ... although after the period ended.
|
NFW would I ever entertain a technical foul here. They are not delaying the game in any way.
Another poster here would call one for each fan that left the bleachers, though, so YMMV. :D |

No possible way I'm giving a T here.
|
No T. Give them their moment of reaction and let game management deal with it.
|
I'd find a late travel and get out of there. Miller Time.

They're not delaying anything other than the start of the OT. Have GM get them out of there and play on. |
Let em enjoy it.

How strong is that kid?!
First, agree with many--no T. GM's job.
Second, how strong is W24??? He drained a full court shot with barely more effort than a free throw! |

These are the moments people remember for a lifetime. As an official these types of plays are extremely fun to be a part of. Without knowing the outcome I assume the officials did the right thing. |
This:
"With 0.6 seconds on the clock, Temidayo Yussuf, a forward for the basketball team at Alameda's St. Joseph Notre Dame High School, caught the ball after a missed free throw by El Cerrito High, and immediately fired it down the court. The 17-year-old landed the 80-foot shot, sending the game into overtime. Hordes of fans, fellow players and cheerleaders swarmed the court in frenzied celebration. However, the shot was not enough to win the game, and El Cerrito ultimately triumphed 71-64 in overtime." |
