Free Throw Violation?

Free throw shooter on the line for 2. 1st one misses, 2nd shot lodges in flange.

What's the ruling? Free throw shooter violates or AP arrow?

Happened in a game tonight.

Ask yourself two things:

1. What would the violation be?
2. What's the call normally when a ball gets lodged in the flange?

Don't out-think yourself. ;)

I wasn't at the game, but friends did the game. The called a violation on the shooter. That was my first instint but after looking at the rule book, I figured I was wrong.

They came together 2 of the 3 agreed violation. It's a rarity.

Thanks.

Why did they think it was a violation? I mean... what did they think the shooter did wrong?

How did the shooter violate? Nothing meets the criteria of a violation by the shooter.

How embarrassing for that crew! :o

Each year I continue to be shocked by the lack of rules knowledge that I see or hear about from officials. If this keeps up, I won't be shocked by it in a couple of years, just saddened. :(
