Jump Ball

Girls Varsity..to start the game A1 hits jump ball out of bounds. Does not touch another player or the floor inbounds?

Question: Is this a re jump between same 2 jumpers? or is the ball awarded to B for a throw in with the Arrow to A?

B's ball, arrow set to A.

Concur...learned the hard way. Had it happen in two consecutive games this year, couldn't remember the first time. Won't ever forget it now.

What am I mixing up:rolleyes: I guess I thought control not established and not touched by a non jumping player since jumper hit it OOB, thus re jump between same 2 jumpers.

NFHS 7-2-1

The ball is caused to go out of bounds by the last player in bounds to touch it or be touched by it, unless the ball touches a player who is out of bounds prior to touching something out of bounds other than a player.
There's nothing in the rule mentioning player/team control. Sometimes we think too much ;)

Only time your rejumping with the ball going OOB is if both jumpers hit the ball and you can't figure out which one was the last to touch.

What is the rule for when the ball goes OOB?

Control, and the setting of the arrow, is an entirely different matter from the OOB violation.
