Wide Stripe official shirt... any other states mandating use of this?

Just curious.....

Is it all about the money and the state is getting some type of kickback?

How can they get a kickback on the wide shirt? (Unless there's more to the story -- like it also requires a logo, and they've only licensed the logo to a few vendors)

Well, most of them are requiring a specific shirt with sublimated dye "patches" and the like. A few states are using only one vendor for the shirt.

For now, I think they look goofy, but that would change the more I see the shirts, I guess. I love the wide stripes for college football.

I agree with that -- but it has nothing to do with a "wide panel shirt" or anything.

Sure it does. Nobody said "wide panel" - the original said "wide stripes" and those efforts have all been money grabs.

Or as in, for a very long time, there was exactly one store you could order the shirts from. And that store is in the same town as the HQ's for the state sanctioning organization. Now I've heard there is finally at least one more source from which to buy them.

And while not mandatory this season, in order to work post-season you have to wear the shirt.

We won't be using the "wide stripe" shirts but I have been told that the chapter (association) that I will be active in once again next season will officially vote to adopt the grey shirts. Not sure if the entire state will switch of if is up to each chapter.

Doesn't really matter to me. I only have one shirt that is still wearable so I will have to buy a couple for next season anyway. Buying black and white or buying grey...makes no difference to me.

As BNR and the rest of us in VA can attest, yes, we are moving to the wider stripe shirt. It was supposed to be for this yr, but supply didn't meet demand, and it was deferred until next yr (except for state playoffs as was stated). Some ordered them in Oct and they haven't arrived yet. If our entire crew has them though, and agrees, we can wear them for a regiular V game this yr though.

Initially, I don't like em......need to lose weight, ahem.

Our Association has them and we are required to wear them... one of the guys reported that, according to his wife, the shirts "look good from farther away"..... in my opinion the farther the better....

I don't have one, and haven't even seen one other than in the pics but I actually like it. I am well aware I'm in the minority with this opinon though.

Doesn't look too bad...

In this state you are required to wear a grey shirt that you can get from either Honig's or Gerry Davis...not sure the state gets kick backs or anything.

Have worn the shirt that was shown above...personally like it better than the "thin" stripes.
