FYI - wore my new, wide-stripe shirt for the first time this week. Surprisingly, I really liked it. Very light. Who knew?

I think they look stupid! I would prefer to wear the gray with pinstripes.

Had a similar thought when I first wore mine.

Its funny. I "designed" this shirt way back in 1989 as an alternative to the shirts we used to wear -- basically the football shirt without the pocket. V-neck and everything. The link to the CK site looks pretty much exactly what I designed. Of course, it was just a drawing and I didn't show anyone, but from now on, I'm doing stuff with my ideas. Its clear I'm 25 years ahead of my time!

Just like you said. Our state association changed their logo this year (very minor change, if you didn't see them side by side, you wouldn't notice). Coincidently, they have a new official supplier. I'm sure the conversation went something like this: State: we need a new uniform sponsor and for $10K it could be you. Supplier: If you make everyone buy my new sublimated shirt for $67 + $10 shipping, I'll give you your sponsor fee. State: Great! if you double it, we'll change to wide stripes in '16.

Seriously, went through this with Football. New shirt with position placard dyed in. $77 in 2011 season. 2013 season went to wide stripes, another $77.

It's all about money. Specifically, separating you from it.

I wonder if there was a meeting of State Associations and one of them said "Hey, we found a great way to make money! Take it from the officials!"

Make no mistake...it's ALL about the money. In this state there are literally tens of thousands of officials for multiple sports. Dues are the first money maker...approved vendors are number two...an lest we forget corporate "sponsors" and media contracts.

Hmmmm !!!!!!!

Start doing that camp math.....

75 campers @ $450 = $ 34,000 ( don't forget the $5,000 from the site camp director ) )

12 staffers each paid say $800 for the weekend..........

8 rooms for the weekend say $2,000

Pizza and soda - HEALTHY !!!!!

Ahhhh.... the camp T-Shirt !!!!
