Iowa State-BYU flagrant 2 foul (Clip Added)

Video request for the flagrant 2 foul on Iowa State's DeAndre Kane with 3:28 remaining in the 2nd half. What do the masses think? I think I'm okay with them upgrading to a flagrant 1 for excessive contact, but I didn't think this warranted an ejection. Just my opinion.

Foul, yes. Flagrant? Not in my opinion. Looked to me like it was nearly completely unintentional.

I could see a FF1 because of the contact to the face. But FF2 seems a little much to me.

Maybe the officials thought this was an "eye for an eye" situation. :D

At least a FF1. There is no way that was accidental. It's not like he is swiping at the ball and got him in the face. He is putting both hands into his face while he ball was around his waist. The ball never was even in the path between his hand and the face.

Does L signal a PC foul initially?

That's what I originally thought, but when they replayed it I think he's signalling a blow to the head.

He was signaling a blow to the head. You could tell when it happened live as well.

Did anyone see the ISU player that fouled out flip the crowd off as he sat on the bench? The BYU students were at that end of the court and were chanting something at him, so he raises his hand up briefly and flips them off as he sits down. The ESPN cameras quickly switched off of that shot and the announcers didn't say anything. I wasn't the only one who saw it because he was already apologizing this morning.

I don't imagine Hoiberg is going to put up with that crap for long.

When I was checking around for it this morning, I saw stories where a different player for them did the same thing last season, in March I believe.

Agree. It seems like a deliberate act....FF1 at a minimum.

Depends on how good of a player the offender is. Hoiberg's livelihood depends upon his ability to put a winning program on the court, not developing future noble prize winners.
