I still cannot believe that they have changed the block/charge line of demarcation. Stupid and not going to change much how it is called if you ask me.

Peace

Maybe it's just me, Rut, but I don't even recall much that much complaining at the end of the season that would've brought the idea to the table in the first place.

Media people were the "cause" if you ask me. Many in the media complained about the Ohio State player that took a charge and started pontificating about how that was not a offensive foul. The noise was getting loud enough I believe there was committee people listening. And I believe that was discussed on the NCAA Tournament broadcast from people that had more of an NBA understanding and got into the heads of committee people as well. Remember there was a lot of talk about scoring being down and what often happens is rules committees overreact to things being said rather than looking at the people that are actually holding scoring down and that is the coaches. Just look at the way Louisville and Michigan played in the National Championship game. The coaches clearly wanted to run and shoot when open unlike many programs around the country. So they looked for a band-aide solution for internal bleeding. Just look at the reference to scoring in this press release.

Two plays caused it, IMO.
1. The crash which was no-called at Iowa St near the end of regulation versus Kansas.
2. A drive on the right side of the lane in the NCAA tournament which did have a whistle. I can't recall which game at the moment. The call was much debated. The game was close.

Was it this play?

Looks like we'll see a lot less charges this year. If I had to guess most 50/50 calls will be blocks.

It also looks like handchecking will be a POE. Universally ignored I'm sure.

I know it was ignored in the NCAA-M Tournament.

More or less my point. A POE seems to have the same effect as a strongly worded resolution from the UN.

Yup, if you don't do it my way I'm going to write you a very, very, very angry letter.

It wasn't ignored in the season. That was rather curious.
