Everything old is new again...
Clyde "The Glide" Frazier, Earl "The Pearl" Monroe, Magic Johnson, all changed direction within the rules, on drives to the basket. Of course, most of the fans, officials and commentators nowadays aren't familiar with their exploits.

The euro step is basically a layup but with lateral steps vs steps strait to the basket. Skip to about 60 seconds

Can't imagine anyone getting confused by what they show there -- nor does it really look any different from what I've seen in play.
