It would be too distracting to me.

WNBA debuts referee cam in Mercury-Fever game - ESPN

Quote:

"The first half, it took some adjusting to, especially when you started running and actually broke a sweat," the veteran official said. "The goggles started to loosen up and the sweat around the band started to loosen up. The first half was pretty much just adjusting the headset."

By the second half, Simpson said he barely noticed it.

So, that's how you do it!

Whack!

ha ha, that's kind of cool. I say use it sparingly, maybe once or twice a quarter at the most.

Yeah...If I had it on I'm sure the control room would be laughing about all the time I'd have it focused on the cheerleaders/babes in the crowd. :D

I'd always be focused on the concession stand.

Would the glare from your belt buckle affect your vision looking through ref cam....

MathReferee Tue Jun 11, 2013 09:08am

And they take down the video before I get to see it?? Bummer. I'll be honest, if I find out a ref is going to wear one of these again, I would actually make an effort to tune in.

As goofy as the hardware is, I think it gives an interesting perspective on the game.

I would not be surprised to see this become a training tool at camps and clinics in the near future.

As an observer for my local association I would love to be able to sit down with an official and have the "what did you see" conversation while actually seeing what they saw.

err, the taking down of the video is annoying.
here is one but not the Tech
