Chris Paul carry not called

Grrr that's why NBA is garbage. Last second bank shot to win with score tied. Clearly Chris committed a violation to create space.

... and held his defender off with his left arm several times on the final "drive."

That's why, despite his greatness, I hate him as a player. He's constantly seeking out contact in order to flail/exaggerate it, even in the most elementary, run-of-the-mill situations.

He could have a breakaway layup with a clear path and he'd slow down/alter his course just to seek someone out to careen into and lobby for a fake foul (that he'll often get in the NBA).

Great video and analysis.

I'm not seeing the ball come to rest. Maybe I'm missing it, though.

#olderthanilook Tue Apr 23, 2013 04:29pm

After one viewing, the last head on angle in particular, I'm not sold on a push off by Paul. He did carry the ball at least 2x if not 3x before the alleged push off, though.

rekent Tue Apr 23, 2013 04:38pm

Maybe no push-off, but Griffin does a nice job holding 00 and preventing him from getting there earlier for the help or better chance at block.

If it's carried, it's at 42 seconds... but even in slow mo I'm not positive.

Agreed. Looks like a good no-call to me.

No carry and no push off (at least at the NBA standards). Even in HS i dont see a carry or a push off.

JRutledge Tue Apr 23, 2013 05:32pm

Not seeing the carry or the push off. Then again the carry is harder to see on the video. No push off because the defender never moved backwards or stopped his motion. I would need a little more to call that a foul.

Peace

Raymond Tue Apr 23, 2013 06:27pm

I see the defender get away with a couple body bumps.

This is 100% garbage.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions and are free to like or dislike any players in the NBA or the league itself. But things like the OP and the post above just irritate the hell out of me.

No carry, no push off, just a great game winning play by Paul.

And the post above is just so far removed from reality I don't know what to say. I will say that I have tremendous respect for Chris Paul and what he is able to do at 5'10 in a league full of athletic freaks, most of whom have anywhere from half a foot to a foot height advantage on him.
