Not Tiger . . . Maybe His Seventh Cousin

Noticed this on the net today.
Maybe the rules in the league he's playing are different, but it might be a handy exercise for some to identify at least two NFHS rules infractions this budding phenom committed in this highlight video.
(First time trying to embed a video...excuse me if I don't get it right the first try) :o

I saw an obvious carry on a cross-over dribble.

And a free throw vioation that made it look like the video was staged.

Only made it through about 1/2 the video before I got bored.

The FT violation may not have been staged, but most definitely occurred during an all-star game.

Indianaref Tue Apr 23, 2013 09:53am

35 seconds into video an obvious FT violation. Looks like dad put together nice video for the scouts.

JRutledge Tue Apr 23, 2013 10:08am

Was that Hammond, Indiana?

Otherwise I was bored really quick. ;)

Peace

I've got other ways to be boring, believe you me! Like if I was in a conversation with you, for one. :o

Yeah, more than a few NBA-style carrying violations, for sure.

Free throw violation; yep, that's one I was thinking of.

One more. One for which, if I recall back to the days I used to watch NBA a couple of decades or so ago, Michael Jordon pulled off much to the amazement of the announcers that game. Something we'd have to call a violation in high school and bear the brunt of a disgruntled gym.

Well maybe I just was not interested enough and I did not watch the entire video, but I did not see a lot of carrying by this kid. For one his hand never seemed to be "more than a handshake" which was the standard the NF used in a POE they had on the issue only a couple of years ago. I saw a hand over the top of the ball and a quick move.

Peace

Are you talking about the shot that went over the backboard from behind?

A couple of obvious carrying violations - they went way beyond the handshake criteria. Not sure how anyone could miss those. The free throw violation looks like one where he just decided to show everyone what a stud he is and didn't care that it would get waved off.

AremRed Tue Apr 23, 2013 10:46am

0:55 Freddy. The ball passes over the rectangular backboard, making it out-of-bounds. Wipe the shot, 2 free throws.

Illegal spin move/travel at 0:26....and I stopped at the halfway point too. Obviously a recruiting highlight reel for this kid.

I believe the play your thinking about was Larry Bird in the Hartford Civic Center.

Yup, but the L waived it off anyway.

Other than the FT violation and the over-the-backboard shot, this is all I had. I didn't catch all the carrying that others say happened. I must have missed it.

What Was I Thinking???

Those are the two I noticed.
I never paid attention to any of the spin moves and travelling calls that may have or may not have gone lacking.
Just those two caught my interest.
