There is no doubt that was a foul.

Why was Griner up on the play instead of back defending the paint.

Multiple Foul....

Can you imagine what Yosemite Sam...I mean Mulkey would've done had that actually been called?

Those were my thoughts watching as well.

Griner should have been protecting the paint not trying to play defense and barely moving her feet 40' from the basket.

And that's one of the main reasons that despite many of the problems I have with some of the officiating in this game, Baylor and Mulkey have nobody to blame but themselves for this loss.

That foul was a 'pick 'em' between 32 and 42. I still would have liked to see some more hustle from the C because she had an absolutely horrible look at it. If she would have kept hustling thru the play she would have been in a much better spot to see the play. IMO, this is why the L double clutches because it was so obvious there was a foul he just reflexively thought C had a whistle.

Yep. Let the 6'8 player who leads the world in blocked shots NOT be in the paint preventing this exact type of play!

Poor defensive strategy aside, is there really that much illegal contact here?

First defender jumps vertically, swings wildly and misses, Griner blocks the shot up top and there is some marginal contact from behind. Not saying I wouldn't have called a foul there in real time, but on replay the contact isn't that great and was embellished by the shooter. The shooter's knee buckling when she took off made this play look like she got mugged when she didn't.

Looks like B32 is jumping into the shooter and contacts her with her hip. Griner hits her in the back and head with her right arm.

I don't know if the L was necessarily waiting on the C or not. It looks to me like he double clutches because he was initially going to call the ball out of bounds and give it to Louisville. He then changes his mind and goes with the foul. I could be wrong, just a thought.

There is no reason for the Lead to double clutch at all. The lead is in great position, pitching the paint, and it is an obvious foul...go get it...if we have a double whistle that is even better. Do you think the Center was gun shy after making the offensive, pass and crash, call 10 seconds earlier?

The center official is below the free throw line when the foul happens...where do you want her to be? Does she get blocked out, straight lined, by Griner? Thoughts.

That's how I see it too. I think the double clutch is from going up with a hand and then changing it to a fist.

In the L's defense, I kinda agree with the previous post about it looking like much more illegal contact than it actually was.

But Griner did get her from behind, it was a foul, and you would like to see stronger mechanics in that situation.
