How many different times did he dribble? I count 3 separate dribbles. (Dribbble then fumble; a singe dribble after the fumble; dribble when he jumped and dropped the ball picked it up then passed)

That first hop is a jump stop, he was allowed that. The travel came when he jumped again after the jump stop and drop the ball for what was now his 3rd dribble in this sequence.

I didn't consider the second one a dribble, no control, but if you did I could live with it. The first hop is off one foot, and he lands on just that same foot. That is not a jump stop. The third dribble can't be an illegal dribble because it's a travel for releasing it with the pivot off the floor.

Maybe it is just HS officials in your area that don't know traveling. Perhaps it is their instructors that don't teach it to them correctly.

EDIT: And I actually see those travels called incorrectly MORE often in college games that I do in HS games. A high dribble at those levels almost always gets a whistle.

Calling this a travel would have been the correct call. One's opinions of other mis-called travels doesn't change that.
And given the earlier travel (that wasn't a travel) that this crew called against Duke, these guys aren't perfect either.

For the record and for what it's worth, I thought this crew did a great job.

I have watched video of plays from high school officials all over the country and it is not just something that takes place in one area. Obviously people from California or IAABO feel the same way when they have produced videos on YouTube and on DVD suggesting otherwise. And that does not include the videos we have seen here alone. And every time we get a POE about some traveling situation is more evidence that someone feels high school officials are not doing a great job calling traveling correctly.

This is what I see. Dribble, fumble, dribble, pick the ball up, jumps, releases the ball while in the air, and picks it up again. Please don't say that a Loiusville player touched, they don't at any point touch the ball. The dribble, fumble dribble is violation #1. Jumping off both feet and releasing the ball is violation #2, as the ball wasn't released prior to pivot foot being moved.
