LeBron, Kirk Hirich of the Bulls, and a charging foul.
I apologize in advance for the URL I am about to past into this post, and if one of the other Moderators who are more technically advanced than me can edit this post such that only the video of the "charging" foul by LeBron against Hinrich can be shown, I would appreciate it very much. That said here is the video of LeBron running Hinrich over in the Heat's loss to the Bulls on Wednesday night.
LeBron Talks Bulls' Fouls After Heat Loss: 'A Lot Of My Fouls Are Not Basketball Plays' <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/Dc2wXZgeOb0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I do not know how this could be anything but a charging foul by LeBron, no matter whether the game is being played under NFHS, NCAA, NBA, or FIBA. Hinrich had a LGP and James barreled into him; Hinrich grabbed James only after James had made contact, and in an effort to keep the two of them from going to the the court. Yes, I cannot forgive LeBron for leaving the Cavaliers for the Heat and Hinrich is a Kansas graduate, but a charge is a charge is a charge. What say you? MTD, Sr. |
I have a foul on the defender as his illegal contact occurs before the offensive player charges through the defender. Hirich isn't trying to keep the two of them from going to the floor...he wrapped up LeBron to make sure he couldn't get a shot off. This is one case were Jeff Van Gundy was correct in that if he didn't wrap up LeBron, he very well would have gotten the charge call.

I didn't name the clip, I'm only embedding it...

Hirich was not displaced until he grabbed Lebron. I think I would have gone with the foul on Hirich too in this play. At least I am not convinced that LeBron would have fell on top of Hirich without the grab.
