Illinois-Miami Controversy?

All my Illini fan friends are up in arms this morning about something that happened in their game. I went to bed and missed most of the game.

Anything controversial happen?

With about 1 min remaining the ball went out on the baseline off of Miami player. L asked for help and the C said Miami ball. Clearly the wrong call, and it turned the game. I'm glad I wasn't an Illinois fan.

For Illini fans that is Wednesday. They never take responsibility for why their team loses. I would ignore them. They are just made that they are going home and FGCU is still playing.

Peace

The erroneous call occurred with :43 left.

Actually, the decision to foul with approx. :36 left in the game (down 2pts) rather than play solid D, is what turned the game. Instead of possession and down 2 w/6-8 secs. left, the Illini were down 4 with :36 left.

Trying to "lengthen the game" is a solid strategy at that point, BUT it doesn't work if the first 3pt shot you attempt occurs with :02 left (losing by 4). You are much better off going for a 2 with minimal time left (and being only down 2pts) than fouling Miami and NOT attempting a 3 until the game is essentially over.......

Not to mention they failed to foul one of the big guys on the inbounds, and then fouled Larkin. It was still a bad OOB call. It especially rubbed me the wrong way because the guy who just clearly knocked it out started pointing his team's way like it as clearly off the other guys. I think his reaction may have influenced the C.
