And as someone who has coached a little bit in between my officiating career I agree 100% with the following:

“I feel very strongly that there isn’t a coach out there who wouldn’t be a better coach if he got to referee a little bit — with a whistle and with the fans on top of him,’’ Slaymaker contends.

“There’s no question it should almost be a requirement to a beginning coach that they should referee and see how difficult it really is.’’
