Former Coach officiating state tournament at 76

Maybe there's hope for me yet.

Good for him!

I hope I'm alive at 76 let alone fortunate enough to still be on the courts... AND still refereeing at that level? Wow!

Congrats Coach :) I hope I'm still scorekeeping at 76 and still doing a good enough job to handle both boys and girls games.

Nice article.

And as someone who has coached a little bit in between my officiating career I agree 100% with the following:

Quote:

“I feel very strongly that there isn’t a coach out there who wouldn’t be a better coach if he got to referee a little bit — with a whistle and with the fans on top of him,’’ Slaymaker contends.

“There’s no question it should almost be a requirement to a beginning coach that they should referee and see how difficult it really is.’’
