Classic Play

The Lakers pulled an old trick on the Hornets just now. Has anyone seen this done in their game?

From that same game....you never see this throw-in violation:

Vindication for Nevadaref? Wasn't there a big argument years ago about whether this was actually a violation?

I guess I'm not so sure now. I seem to remember a big argument about this kind of play. Maybe it wasn't so much about the rule, as whether it should actually be called, no pressure, no advantage, etc.

I did a quick search and couldn't find it. Maybe if Nevada sees this, he'll tell me if I'm right or if I'm crazy.

BktBallRef and I had different opinions on whether the inbounds teammate could touch the ball in this situation while it remained in the thrower's hands. We agreed that the hand-off was a violation, but the debate was about what if the ball isn't actually handed-off, but just contacted and then pulled back.

So I'm not crazy, but I'm not right either.
