Roll Call

Curious how many members are officiating in their respective state tournaments. Illinois has regionals, sectional, supersectionals and state finals

I'll start it off, I have boys regional games next week and did likewise for girls

OKREF Fri Feb 22, 2013 01:36pm

So far I have had 2 district, 3 regional, and 1 Area assignment.

Welpe Fri Feb 22, 2013 01:41pm

I went and watched a playoff game this week.

Toren Fri Feb 22, 2013 01:47pm

I got 3 contests next week, I believe we're in the first or second round. I just work here

#olderthanilook Fri Feb 22, 2013 01:52pm

I'm privileged to work 5 sub state contests. More than the two qtr final sub state games last year. So, I'm thrilled.

Raymond Fri Feb 22, 2013 02:39pm

I'll be working the 1st round and quarter-final round of the State private school tourney, those rounds being covered by the servicing associations for the respective home teams.

Quite sure my public school season ended last night with a regional semi-final. (Districts, Regionals, States done here).

And this was the first time in my 12 seasons of officiating that I didn't work a single girls game (though I was scheduled for one and it got snowed out). Last season I only worked 2 girls games, both during a big Christmas tournament.

Bad Zebra Fri Feb 22, 2013 02:51pm

Girls: Regional Semi, Regional Final and State Final this Saturday
Boys: District, Regional Semi

PG_Ref Fri Feb 22, 2013 02:58pm

Our 1st rd regionals kick off tonight ... should be fun.

Camron Rust Fri Feb 22, 2013 03:03pm

Working a 1st round game Saturday.

It is likely that I'll get 1-2 more in the round of 32 and round of 16. Those are assigned 2-3 days before the games once they know who is playing where (one of the teams hosts these rounds, usually the higher seed but not always).

After that, I'm done...not eligible to go beyond that having gone last year....someone else gets a turn.

tjones1 Fri Feb 22, 2013 04:08pm

I worked a regional.

Season coming to a close. Hoping for another assignment. If not, I'll sit back and enjoy all the action.

riverfalls57 Fri Feb 22, 2013 04:09pm

I have two Boys first round games, a Girls second round game, and a Boys Section semi final. In Minnesota we have Sections, then State.

kenref1 Fri Feb 22, 2013 04:19pm

I worked a Girls Sectional Championship here in Illinois.

c'mon mendy Fri Feb 22, 2013 04:27pm

On Tuesday, I will work my fourth post season game for this season.

SE Minnestoa Re Fri Feb 22, 2013 04:46pm

2 section games

Indianaref Fri Feb 22, 2013 05:02pm

2 sectional games, then done.

JRutledge Fri Feb 22, 2013 05:08pm

Playoffs start next week for me.

I have a Regional then a Sectional Final. Six games total so far. Still some other levels left to be assigned officially to know if I am done.

Peace

Me too.

Scuba_ref Fri Feb 22, 2013 07:33pm

I received three district games; first one was girls (40 point mercy rule in 4th qtr), next two were boys and both went to overtime.

DRJ1960 Fri Feb 22, 2013 07:35pm

I have a goatee :p

APG Fri Feb 22, 2013 07:35pm

I got two district games...considering it's my first year in this area, I'm quite happy with my season this year.

Zoochy Fri Feb 22, 2013 09:23pm

I have 2 Girls games in the 1st round of Districts. The score of the 1st game was 72-6. I was hoping for a shutout. The same girl heaved in 2 3-point shots.
Next week I have a the finals of a District game.
Oh by the way. This was not the worst loss for this team. They loss 100-8, 85-3 and .............. 90-0.

OKREF Sat Feb 23, 2013 12:33am

As of Tuesday I will have had 16 playoff games. We work 2 games each time out. 1 boys, 1 girls.

Sounds like the girls pigtal game in my hometown Thrsday night. Ended 69-3 and could have been much much worse. It was intresting setup Thursday as when the original schedules came out the boys here were supposed to have a non conference game that noght. So what they did was move the Boys varsity game to a 4PM titp time and then play the girls game at 7:00 PM. It allowed them to clear they gym between games.(had too) girls game was a section game and not a regular home game as te boys game was

grunewar Sat Feb 23, 2013 07:30am

I had a VG District Final and my scholastic season is long done. I was very pleased to get that game.

Thank goodness my Men's Leagues and Rec Leagues are still going for another three weeks (did I just say that?) :p

BillyMac Sat Feb 23, 2013 10:41am

Hit Me Baby One More Time ...

Got an email from Arbiter last night and got a "big time" prep school game today. I thought that I was done for the season, public, and Catholic, schools finished up the regular season last night, didn't realize that prep schools were still playing. Thank God that it won't start snowing here in Connecticut until tonight.

Why does such a team qualify for the postseason? Is this an area in which all teams make the playoffs?

Unlike professional sports where only the good teams qualify for post season competition. Here, Every team plays an extra game. :(

We had an 0-22 team win their first playoff game a few years ago. Then they got hammered in the second round.

Occasionally in Iowa, a team will make the state tournament with a losing record. That won't happen here in Colorado.

shavano Mon Feb 25, 2013 11:35am

First round girls tomorrow night... everything else is assigned by CHSAA. Wait and see..

If Tuesday's the last one, then I get about a week and a half rest before girls soccer and baseball start.

Good luck to everyone in the playoffs!

Scratch85 Mon Feb 25, 2013 11:57am

Girls' post season last week and Boys' post season this week. My last school game will be Friday night. I will not advance to the second round.

Zigs made it two seasons!

Terrapins Fan Mon Feb 25, 2013 12:51pm

I had a regional play off Saturday night. Good game overall. As a crew I would give us about a 90%. Good solid calls and good mechanics.

I consider it a blessing to get a game.

tomegun Mon Feb 25, 2013 01:04pm

My public school season is done.

I had two boys regional games and two boys semi final games at state.

I have a game at Findley Prep left. I'm sure they are preparing for the national invitational.

SperlingPE Mon Feb 25, 2013 01:55pm

worked up to the final 8 (state tournament)
maybe next year

mtn335 Mon Feb 25, 2013 02:07pm

Just finished my season over the weekend. 6 District playoff games, and my first-ever Regional (Statewide Round of 16 in each classification, played at local sites) assignment. Had a charge call to take away what would have been a tying basket with 10 seconds left. Video agrees with me, thankfully :-)

Nevadaref Tue Feb 26, 2013 11:21am

Two down, four to go!

walter Tue Feb 26, 2013 11:27am

First round and quarter final on girls' side and second round and state semi-final on boys' side. Good luck to all out there! Stay healthy and travel safe.

YooperRef Tue Feb 26, 2013 04:55pm

First Postseason Game

My season is scheduled to end tomorrow night with a girl's District semifinal. My first postseason game. Hope it turns out well.

BubbaRef Wed Feb 27, 2013 09:45am

So far this post season in girls I have worked 3A/4A Girls Regionals, Sectionals, Super-Sectionals and will be working the 3A/4A State Finals this weekend in Bloomington IL.

On the boys side just had 2 games in a 2A Regional.

BktBallRef Thu Feb 28, 2013 09:20pm

Congrats on your State Finals assignment, Bubba.

Four conference tourney games last week. First and second round boys game this week. Season ends tomorrow night with a third round 3A girls matchup. Had a boys 3rd rounder last year at the same school and the place was slammed! Better get there early!

VaTerp Thu Feb 28, 2013 09:37pm

Busiest post-season to date of my officiating career.

Boys side I did a district final, a regional quarterfinal, and a regional final.

Girls side I did a first round regional, regional semi, and will be doing a state semi-final next week.
