Ohio St-Minny half-ending 3 pt shot

Any video of the half-ending shot by Aaron Craft? He drives up court, seems to come to a jump stop then takes a small step before shooting a successful 3 pt. Missed call or too much of a baby travel to call in that situation? Not a jump step at all?

When did he gather the ball? Before leaving the floor or after? Did he land on both feet at the same time?

I thought he gathered the ball, jumped off his right foot, then landed on both feet and took an additional (small) step with his left before shooting. A buddy thought he came to a two-foot stop without a jump and could still pivot. I couldn't find video to check again and can't access youtube/video at work now, but I thought it was a jump stop and step but would be curious what others thought.

I can't access the video in this link but my buddy said it can be seen here.

If he gathered in the air not a travel. If he gathered before he jumped then it's a walk but he was going so fast I'd be hard pressed to get it right.

Waaaaay too close in real time to nit pick. I'd likely leave it alone.

Jetmetfan,

Never thought I'd say this to a NY fan but if we ever bump into each other the first 4,5 rounds are on me. These videos are invaluable and I've always felt the more video you watch, you train your eyes to react. We can read the written word or be told what contitutes LPG or the like, but nothing beats reviewing actual plays.

Please stick around this site.

THANK YOU!!

I don't see a travel. I'd rather miss one than make one up.

The mere fact we have varying opinions says leave it alone

I think I see the travel, maybe... possibly... if I really look for it. No certainty whatsoever though because of his body blocking the camera view.

Same as said above, cold day when I would be calling that.

I watched this live last night (as i am a HUGE Buckeyes fan) and I also rewound it about 5 times and watched it from 2 feet away from my tv. The video above is kind of blurry, but IMO, he came down with both feet, stutter stepped with his left, but kept his right firmly in place.

I got no travel. (Trying my hardest not to be biased!) :D

It looks to me like he probably gathers with this feet in the air (immediately after juming) and lands on both feet. He gets a pivot at this point, so I got nothing. It's possible I'm wrong, since the shooter's body screens my view, but the T has a great view. It's either legal, or just too close to call.

I don't want to hang my hat on a call that looks legal in real time but might possibly be a travel in slow motion.

Camron Rust Thu Feb 21, 2013 11:44am

I think he caught the ball after jumping so he had the liberty to land on both and pivot on either. No travel.

deecee Thu Feb 21, 2013 11:45am

No call, too close to tell even in slo mo.

Rich Thu Feb 21, 2013 11:59am

We're only having this discussion because Tubby Smith was trying to buy a call at the end of the first half.

(Just like happens to us all the time in games when we work.)

I think he coaches freshman girls here, then.
