Out of Bounds. This is a team control foul.

Seeing the playpic mechanic that BillyMac posted, I'd like to ask which of you guys/gals use a fist for PC foul prelim and reporting?

I point with an open hand on PC and use a fist for TC.

There are a lot of guys, esp those senior to me, that come out with a big fist punch for PC.

The image below seems to indicate the closed fist PC mechanic is correct and the open hand not correct.

Then again, the playpic shows and official wearing a collared shirt. ;-)

Thoughts?

I've gone way from using the player control signal. Even when I did, I NEVER used it as a preliminary signal...always used the punch.

You hang out with Curtis Shaw and John Adams and you don't know the answer to this question?

So, you punch it at the spot, then do the same at the table?

FED and (I think) NCAAM are supposed to use the "hand behind the head" mechanic for a PC foul. I try in HS. NCAAW just uses the TC mechanic.

Use what those who "matter" in your area use.

(And, didn't we just discuss this a week or so ago?)

I use the pucnch for PC as well. Proper mechanic for a PC foul is supposed to be one hand behind the head, same hand for the punch. Nobody around here does that anymore. We have been instructed to never use the punch when reporting to the table. If it is an illegal screen, use the block signal and point the way we are going.

Yeah, we did. Behind the head is the NFHS & NCAAM official mechanic for a PC. NCAAW is the punch for PC/TC.

Sorry, Poor Label, Rushed ...

I should have labeled it as an NCAA signal. It was the first one I found on the internet before I had to leave for work. NFHS and IAABO signals may differ, as may signals in "Rome".
