Whistle!

I started this season with a non-pealess whistle, made of hard plastic. I was given a Fox 40 whistle with the rubber teeth-guard a few weeks into the season. As of today, I have chewed the rubber to pieces, and cracked the (thinner on the mouth-guard whistle than the regular) plastic part of the whistle you put in your mouth. I want to use the regular Fox 40 because it is more durable (and cheaper), but I am concerned that biting the hard plastic might hurt my teeth. Anyone had any trouble with a chipped tooth?

No but I worked intramural flag football with a guy that got into a collision with a player and chipped his tooth with a Fox 40 classic.

I go through a whistle a season. You might try to chew a little less but stick with a Fox40 of some kind.

Used one for years, have nice indentations in the plastic from my teeth, and have never had the slightest problem.

Geez! Have diamond dust in your teeth or something?!

(Edit: If you're talking about one of the whistles with rubber instead of the classic 40 just ignore me)

I should post a picture of mine, it is destroyed. My full-plastic whistle has the indent marks too.

I can understand the rubber being destroyed, but I have used the same Fox40 Classic for about 4 years now. Deep indentions but I can't imagine going through one per season...

I just bought a Fox 40 Eclipse. Best whistle I've ever used. Seriously -- it's worth a try.

I just threw away a whistle. It just didn't sound right. I don't chew mine, though, so the exterior lasts just fine. I can't use the ones with the rubber tips. They feel weird to me.

I tried the rubber tip but bit through it quickly, being a whistle chomper. I'd no sooner toss my seven-year-old properly-chomped whistle than I'd cast aside my 35-year-old, almost-broken-in softball glove.
