The star of this viral video is getting sent to a State tournament. That's pretty funny!

If that is true, it sounds like being assigned to the state tournament/finals in your state is just the same "lifetime achievement award" as it is in my state (Illinois). It's too bad that undeserving officials get these assignments based on years of service rather than actual ability.

Who is being sent to the State Finals?

Peace

I think he means one of the officials but at first I thought it was the player on white.

I had forgotten all about that video.

OP certainly must mean one of the officials. However, the officials are not the star in this video, the brute football player in white is.

State wrestling tournament maybe? State track meet as a shot putter?

That is why I was confused as the only person this video highlighted was the thug kid that knocked everyone out. ;)

Peace

I saw nothing in that video that should have the officials banned from tournament games of any level in future seasons. Then again, I wasn't watching it with jade colored lenses, either.

Unless you have contacts in eastern Washington, your conjecture here is completely unwarranted.

Don't you think the actions and behaviour of white should've been handled more adequately than was done by the officials in the video? Some of the fouls committed in the video warranted AT LEAST intentional fouls in my opinion.

Failure to do so make it seem a bit curious to me that they were selected to work play-off games. I'm not saying the officials are not of a high enough standard to work play-off games, I've never met them or seen them work a complete game, but this video does strongly gives me the impression they are not play-off material.

Keep in mind: this video was shot during the 2011-12 season. It's completely conceivable all three officials involved could've had very good seasons this year and earned playoff assignments. If they learned from the experience, good for them.

Or their state uses a comprehensive system that considers more than one season to decide who works in a particular year's State Tournaments or Finals. And unless every game tape is evaluated or every call is scrutinized, this situation only went viral because it was put on YouTube. How many games were never put on YouTube and had other problems with other officials?

Peace

And you are qualified to evaluate whether they are playoff material based on?!?!

Washington State allocates state tournament berths using a formula that takes into account the number of certified officials in the association and how many member schools the association uses. So this association was given x number of berths at the various state tournaments. It is up to the association to submit the names of qualified officials who are then approved by the WOA and the WIAA. Unless there was a whole lot more than just this one game on these officials resume, there is no reason for them to be excluded from consideration for state tournaments.
