Single bonus, foul during first try

A1 is attempting first of a single bonus, rattles around the rim and goes in. While rattling around, B1 fouls A2. It makes sense that A1 would get the second shot he earned, then A2 would get his bonus shot(s). Almost ran across this today at a tournament.

It is a false multiple foul.

4-19-12

A false multiple foul is a situation in which there are two or more fouls by the same team and the last foul is committed before the clock is started following the first, and at least one of the attributes of a multiple foul is absent.

Peace

Clear the lane and give A1 his second shot, then line them back up for A2 to shoot.

I actually think this procedure, while the correct one, is a bit silly. I think they should have everyone on the lane for all of those FTs but with an instruction that the ball will remain dead for the next FTs. It would save having to clear the lane then bring them all back in after 1 more FT.

Clearing the lanes really only make sense when there will not eventually be a final shot that remains live if missed.

I tend to agree - it is silly. A good and simple verbalization is "1 shot, no rebound".
