Post-Game Call or Not?

Here is the situation.(I would post video but I'm not sure how to take a specific play out of a video over an hour long). In a championship game to advance to the next tournament the underdog had a 2 point lead when the buzzer goes off in the 4th quarter. As part of the post game celebration a couple of the (apparent) victorious team members go and hang on the rim at the other end of the floor. Now if you see this as an official before you leave the floor do you call the T and have the other team shoot 2 free throws with a chance to tie the game and force OT or do you let it go. In this specific case I don't know if the officials so it or of they were off the floor and thus had approved the final score.

Play occurs at 1:16:42 to 1:16:48 0f this video. The game is over(or the horn has sounded)

Exactly.

Well, the official can be seen running by just after it shows the guy hanging on the rim. So, he was on the floor.

That said, if I'm that official, I'm looking down the tunnel and not looking back. It would be a horrible thing to look back out to get that.

Calling this is a "rabbit eyes call".

If you're going to call that, it might very well have been your last championship game. (out here at least)

Don't be a plumber.

JRutledge Sun Feb 10, 2013 12:08am

And your career would be over. ;)

And someone did not get that that point by calling something like that either.

Peace

By the book, the answer is yes. You have not yet left the visual confines, so you still have jurisdiction and the kid is clearly breaking the rule.

In real life, I would NEVER call it.

KevinP Sun Feb 10, 2013 12:32pm

Not. Final horn sounds, R check with score keeper and then get off the floor.

Unless you're Freddy, and then it's alright to be plumber.
