All women mechanics must now use wrenches with the official NCAA logo. As to rules, they must now all show 16ths of an inch. This is a change from the old 8ths of an inch rules.

Meds, meds - my kingdom for some meds.

rules changes

Here is a link to the new women's rule changes. The change regarding the moving back of the 3 point line has been tabled for one year however.

FINALLY !!!!!

Someone had the .... well, guts, to change the stupid closely guarded distance from six feet to three feet. I wish they would dump this rule altogether, even in the NF where there usually is no shot clock. It's really stupid to have it with a shot clock, and almost as stupid to have it without one. How's this for logic: I'm a defender standing six feet from you. You have the ball. I am picking my nose and wondering how far I'm going to get with my girlfriend after the game when, five seconds later, the official blows his whistle and my team gets possession of the ball !!!

Such a deal! Yeah, that's worth a possession.

OK, I know most of us won't count and/or call unless the defender is showing some semblance of actually guarding, but isn't three feet instead of six at least a step in the right direction?

OK - off my soapbox for a while.

BTW - I noticed they also are now adding team control to throwins, just to determine free throws on offensive team control fouls, but have not changed the over and back rule on a throwin. I guess they really need some new terminology if they want to be consistent in their definitions.

Mark --

I agree with you except that now in HS games, there is going to be an unending string of explanations to coaches about how the NF DIDN"T change the rule, only college. It makes a real dilemma -- to explain pre-game, or not to explain. We are usually not supposed to explain anything in the pre-game "conference", but sometimes explaining ahead of time helps... but then othertimes explaining makes things worse. Something new to have bad dreams about!

Jewel,
...no dilemma where I'm standing.
Relax, kind Lady.
Have more fun and worry less.
Nurture your male side a little too. ;)

I'm working on it, Let's see.... "Sorry coach, can't chat, gotta go sit in my cave and tough this one out"

And say, since we're on the topic, why should I be ashamed to tell ace not to worry about saying "Blue Ball"? I guess I'm still just too female for this reffing thing.

Jewel,
I see no need for shame.
You merely grabbed a Southern gentleman by surprise.
I'm thinking the color in mind was Tarheel Blue, or Girly Blue.

Mmmmm...not bad but still needs work. Try "Sit down & shut up a$$hole!" instead, which strongly implies your message but with fewer words. Remember, the general rule is the fewer the words the better, except if the additional words happen to be of the "blue" type.

:)

Thank you, Mr. Macho. Could you re-word this so that it'll get past my supervisor? (Hint: no words that require re-spelling)

A simple "STFU" will do!

Actually, Juules, that comment was a good first step toward the "male side". :)
