Pitt v. Louisville

12:18 in the second half.

There is a foul where the commentators went on about a travel then foul. It looked like a good call, but I would like the play slowed down.

Peace

Here's the play...

I think Roger is calling the reach in (slight contact and not sure it is not on the ball) a bit before or same time as the walk occurred. His view of dribblers feet is obstructed by defenders legs.

JugglingReferee Tue Jan 29, 2013 09:16am

Looks like a travel.

Raymond Tue Jan 29, 2013 10:14am

Looks like the contact Roger is whistling for a foul came after the travel.

ballgame99 Tue Jan 29, 2013 12:58pm

He calls it on White3, not the secondary defender, so it looks like a good call

Yes, it was obvious he called it on W3. Still looked like the contact for the foul came after the travel.

That's exactly how I see it. Which came first, "the chicken or the egg".

That's what I'm seeing.

Eggs have been around for hundreds of millions of years. Chickens have only been around for about five thousand years.

Replay def a travel. Live speed, I'm not calling a travel, maybe even the foul from C. T has that play the whole way. Middle of key though so I can see C having the foul and no travel. I've probably called that move both ways in the past depending on my position.

wsheridan Sun Feb 03, 2013 12:58am

Good call

OKREF Sun Feb 03, 2013 01:07am

Travel. Even at full speed.

canuckrefguy Sun Feb 03, 2013 02:18am

Travel first.

The contact by W3 did not cause the violation.

Bad Zebra Sun Feb 03, 2013 09:37am

I hate that stupid spin move. Travel before the foul.

I don't think that has anything to do with OP, foul was called on 3, before anything else occurred.

Watching it again, I would say the contact occurred just a little before the travel, so Roger got it right.

Huh? W3 is the primary defender. Contact by him would have been the only possible justification for the foul.

APG Sun Feb 03, 2013 01:39pm

Foul before the travel

JRutledge Sun Feb 03, 2013 01:39pm

I can live with the foul before the travel. It is so close I am not going to nitpick one over the other.

Peace

deecee Sun Feb 03, 2013 01:46pm

foul then travel.

Forksref Sun Feb 03, 2013 11:34pm

Easy travel call for the trail who had nothing else going on in his primary. If we have a double whistle then the trail tells the C that the travel came first.

Rich Mon Feb 04, 2013 09:04am

If the foul was called on #3, then it's clearly a foul first.

kk13 Mon Feb 04, 2013 10:37am

I can see it both ways. The problem is that he called the hold REALLY late so the travel had already occurred.

Since when is it desirable to have a fast whistle? When a coach tells me we had a "late call", I don't know if I should thank him for noticing....

I heard the "That was a late whistle" twice from a HC in a game a few weeks ago. I ignored him but wanted to turn and thank him for the compliment.

When they say, "Oh, that was a late whistle!" in my book it's the same as saying "Good call!" because if they didn't like the call they would be saying that.

Rich Mon Feb 04, 2013 12:39pm

I've been known to say something like that when it's a coach I know pretty well.
