For you kids out there...

I arrived at my game site today and there were 3 games left on 2 courts. I had two of them. Court 1 had the two games I was scheduled for and the two guys working that game were going to work other games at the site. Court 2 had one game left. This guy had 2 more games and that guy had one more game. That guy said he had 4 in a row and just finished his third. Resting guy (the 4th official at the site) was waiting for his game which was going to start about 45 minutes after my first game was to tip off.

There is me, resting guy, this guy, and that guy. Apparently, that guy was supposed to have a break and work with resting guy. But, he argued with everybody including the tournament director insisting that he should be with me. We worked 3 man for the first half, and then the other game was ready to start. This guy and that guy were arguing at the table and resting guy joined the fray. This guy could work with resting guy, but it would then delay the other game, since this guy was had my second game, too.

Resting guy and the tournament director called the assignor. This guy worked with resting guy. That guy finished the game with me, we had about a 35 minute delay before we could start our final game, and the tournament director was so impressed with the situation that she told the assignor she never wanted to see that guy again.

Another case of "Don't be that guy."

This sounds like a scheduling mix up. Is it possible that he was given very specific information and tried to make sure he following instructions? My experience with these kinds of tournaments are almost always some silly screw up and we have to do a lot of accomidating to have officials work the games.

Peace

Anybody got a Cliff's Notes version of this that I can study from?

I could see the OP was going, so I skipped it all and read what I thought 26 would say, which is always good advice.

Good advice, I mean.

Cliff's Note version: That Guy was wrong and everyone else knew it, but he preferred to be a yabut.

I'll translate for others:
